Ifugao coop gets coffee processing center to boost production
Asipulo, Ifugao – Coffee farmers of Hojap Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Hojap MPC) will soon yield higher coffee quality and boost production with the newly constructed Ifugao Coffee Processing and Marketing Enterprise Center.
In partnership with the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) and the provincial government of Ifugao, the processing center will help Hojap MPC expand its business, particularly its processing of Ifugao Highland premium robusta green beans and roasting of ground coffee.
According to PRDP, the project includes two satellite buying stations, two hauling trucks, and tools and equipment.
“Thank you to all those who made this project a success from the conceptualization, planning, preparation of attachments, up the implementation, and all the efforts and sacrifices,” Hojap MPC General Manager Shirley Tagtag said in her Facebook post.
Hojap – PEF partnership
Since 2018, the Peace and Equity Foundation and Hojap MPC have been partners to meet the quality and productivity requirements of a changing global coffee industry and bring many farmer communities in Asipulo, Ifugao out of poverty.
“After a series of capacity building with the farmer-members of the cooperative, they are now starting the process of rejuvenation, which will increase the coffee yields of their trees,” PEF Program Officer Alfred Escaño said.
With these partnerships, opportunities will continue to pour in for the coffee farmers of Asipulo.
