Since 2011, PEF has been focusing on growing social enterprises to create more self-sustaining households. In five years, it has invested more than PHP 500 million to around 200 organizations. Close to 40,000 households benefited from agricultural enterprises and basic social services.
Beyond financing, PEF infuses capacity building to scale up an enterprise in critical areas for growth planning, business organization and risk management.
PEF has three distinct but mutually reinforcing implementing structures to achieve this goal --- the Foundation itself as the primary gateway for organizations moving into SE; the PE Holdings company as investor in for-profit organizations whose SE ventures are matured enough to achieve scale; and the SE Institute for capacity building to make the enterprise and entrepreneurs investor-ready.
