Cacao sector robust despite threats

Farmers are still faced with productivity challenges such as low productivity; ageing cacao trees; competition for land area with other crops; changing weather conditions; and pest and diseases, according to  the Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao (CIDAMi), a cacao value-chain organization based in Davao City and composed of farmers and farmer cooperatives, nursery operators, traders, processors, input suppliers and academe.
