Entreps meet the experts

Board members and key management staff of five social enterprises had the opportunity to learn how to improve leadership styles and financial management in a three-day workshop organized by the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) and Mahintana Foundation, Inc. (MFI).

The workshop held in General Santos City was attended by enterprise partners in Soccsksargen on 22-24 January 2020. Seventy-two participants from Keytodac Coffee Growers Association; Sta. Cruz Multi-Purpose Cooperative; Kalamansig Farmers Agricultural Development and Marketing Association; Katotohanan, Pagkakaisa at Serbisyo-Small Enterprise and Economic Development Microfinance; and Kiamba Microentrepreneurs Multi-Purpose Cooperative joined the activity.

MFI training consultant Mary Luzviminda Herezo emphasized the importance of visioning and harmonizing the Filipino values on the organization’s leadership roles. Different activities such situational problems solving and pre- and post-tests for self-evaluation were conducted during the training. 

Financial expert Phoebe Montefalcon, meanwhile, shared different ways and means to improve the overall financial management of the participating organizations.

MFI and PEF, in partnership with the European Union, Dole Philippines and electric cooperatives in Region XII, work together for the "Strengthening Off-grid Lighting with Appropriate Renewable Energy Solutions" or SOLARES project that will benefit 5,000 off grid rural households in the region through the installation of solar home lighting systems. PEF oversees the livelihood and financing component for the beneficiaries of this project.
