PEF mobilizes immediate relief to quake-hit communities in Cotabato

The Peace and Equity Foundation, through the Mount Apo Foundation Inc.(MAFI), supported the relief operation in the communities of Cotabato after a series of earthquakes devastated the province and other areas in Mindanao.

PEFs assistance was used to purchase food packs, bottled water, mats, and biscuits, and other items for the relief operation.

Institutions such as Ateneo de Davao University, Xavier University, and Guardians of Lake Venado also assisted in ensuring adequate relief assistance and efficient distribution.

With the help from volunteers, the goods were distributed to the affected families in Kidapawan City, Magpet, and Makilala in November 2.

According to Armando Pacudan, executive director of MAFI, their Foundation and partners are looking forward to recovery and rebuilding process and psychosocial interventions for children, women and the elderly.

"'Building back better' is a big challenge for all – the victims themselves, the government, civil society, and other support groups where medium to long-term planning is needed, provision of resources, and mobilization of inter-agency and multi-stakeholder support," he stated.

The province of Cotabato is one of the areas that was severely hit by three earthquakes, resulting to loss of lives and properties.
