Expanding potential for profit

With the farm practices he learned from the tour in Sagada’s Ola Farms, Philander Miguel, 51, will try to expand planting coffee from half hectare of his coffee farm to one hectare.

“Talagang ngayon magtatanim pa kame ng mas marami. ‘Yung farm ko ngayon kulang pa sa asikaso,” he said.

To address this, Miguel said that he will continue to persuade his two children currently residing in Manila to come back and tend to their farm instead.

Philander was accompanied by his daughter Juphi Ruth, 25, who also aspires to be a coffee farmer, in a training conducted by Arabica productivity expert, Jennifer Rimando, and supported by Peace and Equity Foundation.
