Social enterprise boosts livelihood opportunities to Davao region

Making sure that all stakeholders benefit from businesses through participation in income generating projects in the community is at the heart of a coconut social enterprise (SE) in the Davao region.

Lao Integrated Farms, Inc., (LIFI) a major exporter of coconut organic syrup and coconut aminos seasoning to countries such United States, Canada, and Germany, has been promoting inclusive model in their business to create more opportunities for the people of Davao del Sur.

LIFI generates employment through their 50-hectare leased organic farms in five (5) municipalities - Bansalan, Magsaysay, Padada, Sulop and Malalag.

“Nagbigay din tayo ng employment sa ating community at mayroon tayong corporations na itinatayo kung saan ang mga kasama naming empleyado ang siyang nagmamay-ari ng mga ito,” LIFI President and Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Lao said.

The SE currently has 80 tappers who supply coconut sap as main ingredient of their products.

LIFI and the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) have been partners in boosting the coconut industry in the region since 2018 when the Foundation provided support for the purchase of coco sap for the farm.
