Farmers benefit from GAP, leadership training
Eduardo Gonzaga, chair of LAMPCO Management Consultative Council in Sawata, said the new ideas and practices learned in training will be adopted in his 2.6-hectare coconut and cacao farm.
“Dapat pagdating mo sa farm galing sa training, nasa isip mo na dapat magamit mo ‘yung natutunan mo kasi kahit ilang beses ka pa sumama sa trainings, walang saysay kung di mo naman ipatupad,” he said in his local dialect.
He also expressed his optimism that the rehabilitation of his farm will entice more farmers to follow suit.
Gonzaga, 63, is one of the recipients of leadership and organic farming practices training conducted by Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) in partnership with Cocolink to help farmers boost their productivity.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa PEF at Cocolink na may project na binigay sa kanila sa LAMPCO.” he added.
In 2018, PEF started to firm up its social enterprise strategy by incorporating an area-focused, SE-led approach in executing its mission.
In line with this, the Foundation in January 2019, launched its Value Chain Approach for Area Development of San Isidro in partnership with Cocolink, LAMPCO, Chokolate de San Isidro Inc., and the municipal government.
