MFI, PEF, Electric Coops renew commitment to improve energy security in Soccsksargen

The Mahintana Foundation, Inc., Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF), South Cotabato II Elect. Cooperative, Inc. and SUKELCO signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in General Santos City today to ensure effective implementation of a rural electrification and livelihood project in the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.

The project, titled Strengthening Off-grid Lighting with Appropriate Renewable Energy Solutions (SOLARES) will benefit 5,000 offgrid rural households in the two provinces through the installation of solar home lighting systems and access to livelihood and financing opportunities.

SOLARES, with funding support from the European Union in the Philippines, PEF and Dole PH, will be implemented for three years in partnership with SOCOTECO II, SUKELCO and select local Microfinance Institutions (MFIs).PEF leads the livelihood component of this initiative.
