One of PEF’s goals is to build capacities of CSO partners as entrepreneurial champions of the poor. HealthDev Integrative Clinics is a model of a CSO (HEALTHDEV Institute, PHILSSA member) spinning off its social enterprise into a for profit entity.
The mobile clinic services of HDIC provide access to poor households (microentrepreneurs) for more affordable and quality health services. The project is aligned with PEF’s strategy of creating self-sustaining households through health services that would result to reduction in expenses and improved quality of life.
Approval of term loan amounting to P 2.64M was granted by PEF to assist HDIC to move forward and expand its services through Mobile Clinic.
HEALTHDEV Institute, a member of Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies (PHILSSA), is a civil society organization that is developing health system models for the marginalized.
It previously had Health Service Provision (HSP) Program that it eventually spun-off into a for profit entity in 2007 named HealthDev Integrative Clinics, Inc. (HDIC). HealthDev Integrative Clinics, Inc. (HDIC) entered into partnership with Kasagana-Ka Development Center, Inc. (KDCI), a microfinance institution, in 2010 to provide laboratory tests and physical examination services to its client-beneficiaries and dependents. To date, 6,700 of more than 20,000 of their client beneficiaries and dependents have undergone the tests.
