A total of seventy proposals were generated for the PEF – BPI Sinag Accelerate Program after the final leg of the Program Orientation Seminar (POS) held in Manila.
The POS, organized by the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF), were attended by social entrepreneurs from all over the Philippines. In partnership with PEF’s network partners in Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Cebu, General Santos, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Manila and Davao, these seminars were held to disseminate the information and reach target applicants for the PEF – BPI Sinag Accelerate Challenge.
PEF – BPI Sinag Accelerate Challenge is a nationwide competition that targets social entrepreneurs whose enterprises are ready to scale-up and expand, while deepening their impact in community development. The competition is putting special focus on enterprises catering to agricultural communities, coastal communities, IP Communities, Muslim Mindanao and other marginalized communities needing attention.
All submitted concept notes from the 10 provinces are currently being screened to come up with the top 35 SEs that will be attending the Boot Camp 1: Finance and Business Models. Another screening process will determine the top 20 SEs that will undergo business plan development with PEF Portfolio Officers and Ka-Negosyo loan officers under Boot Camp 2: Social Mission and Investment Pitching.
The 10 best social enterprise winners will be presented during PEF’s Social Enterprise Conference in November. Each winner will receive a minimum of Php500, 000 (in form of equity, loan, business grants), and will have access to a scale-up fund.
